About the United Nations(UN):

United Nations(formerly known as League of Nations) is an intergovernmental organisation(UNO) structured with 193 independent nations and two observer states. Based in New York City, USA the UN organisation established in 24 October 1945, just after the 2nd World war. UN operates worldwide, its main mottos are maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, protecting environment, providing humanitarian aid in case of natural disaster and armed conflict.

The UN Charter was drafted on June 1945 and came into effect on 24 October 1945. Since time of foundation UN started journey with 51 member countries/states with currently having 193 number of nations as of 2017.
